Copper Tubing Specifications

Medical Gas Tubing must meet ASTM B-819 specifications.  It is cleaned for oxygen service and delivered capped.  It must bear the following marking, MED, OXY, MEDOXY or OXYMED.

Tubing is manufactured in two different grades, L & K.  Type K tubing has a heavier wall thickness. Thus it can withstand higher pressures, is heavier, and has less cross sectional size.  It is used for pressures over 200 psi (Nitrogen systems). 

Both type K & L tubing have the same OD (outside dimension), so all wrought copper fittings will work with both sizes of tubing.  Here is a handy chart of specifications.
